In Loving Memory

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rod MacDonald on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in his 73rd year. His loving wife of 44 years, Barbara, was by his side. He is also survived by sons Pat and Bill, daughter Lauren, daughter-in-law Denise Cooney, grandson Ben, granddaughter Elizabeth and sister Patricia. He was predeceased by parents Pat and Edith and father and mother-in-law Bernie and June Sims.

Rod was born in Toronto and raised in Mississauga but spent the majority of his life raising his family in Oakville.

He spent his entire career working for the railroad as a brakeman, conductor and locomotive engineer with CN, GO Transit and Via Rail. After 37 years of service Rod retired in 2011.

Rod was an avid golfer who was always threatening to give up the game. Still, he persisted! He also enjoyed bowling in the winter with some of his railroad buddies. He also loved his Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed watching games with wife Barbara.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Rod's name to The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, The Princess Margaret Lodge, your local food bank or charity of your choice.

Visitation will take place at 2:00 on Sunday, July 14th at Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 with reception to follow.
