Sisters and Brothers of Div. 747
Speaking for myself I couldn’t be happier seeing the end to 2016. It has not been a banner year culturally with the relatively premature passing of the likes of David Bowie, Prince, Alan Rickman, two thirds of Emerson Lake and Palmer and now a good Kirkland Lake boy Alan Thicke. Politically I don’t think many of us can be pleased with recent developments regardless of one’s political stripe. It is beyond my recollection to remember an ‘angrier’ year.
But nothing will dampen my Christmas spirit. This year it’s the ‘extended’ family Christmas so we will be with Cathy’s mother and family in Windsor. For me a lot of the pleasure is the journey. I still remember riding in the second unit on a train from Hornepayne to North Bay then a Gray Coach bus from there to Burks Falls to visit my parents years ago, snow falling the entire time.
For those of us so fortunate, that is what Christmas should be about. The warmth of a family’s love and support. The yearning to be together, if not in person then certainly in spirit (especially thanks to Skype and Facetime).
This is my wish for you all, that you find that warmth wherever you maybe this Christmas and beyond and may we all rebound in 2017.
On behalf of the Division 747 Executive may your Christmas be ‘perfect’ and may 2017 bring you all health and prosperity. Merry Christmas.
